Drupa 2024 focuses on powerful topics of the future in special forums
These forums offer a deep insight into the printing and packaging industry of tomorrow, connect technology leaders, newcomers and users and focus specifically on the main trends in the industry: five special forums at drupa 2024 open up new perspectives.
As the largest trade fair for printing technologies, drupa presents innovations and new approaches like no other. That is why five special forums are again planned for next year, which will then become a hot spot for new technologies, applications and ideas. The drupa cube, drupa next age (dna) and touchpoint packaging, textile and sustainability conferences will address global megatrends, future technologies with growth potential and best practices and offer a comprehensive range of topics.
Expert partners include the German Institute for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF), epda (European Brand and Packaging Design Association), ESMA (European Specialty Print Association), The Marketing Cloud UK and VDMA (German Engineering Association).
“In times of constant change, disruptive processes and the resulting new business models, our special forums provide important orientation and are indispensable for the industry,” emphasizes Sabine Geldermann, director of drupa, Print Technologies Messe Düsseldorf. “Together with our partners, we focus on impressive industry expertise and future topics for our target groups.”
drupa cube
drupa cube stands for thought leadership and will also be the central stage for future-oriented content in 2024. Keynote lectures, expert panels and workshops guarantee knowledge transfer and interaction. The conceptual and strategic partner is the British agency The Marketing Cloud, which was responsible for the implementation of the program in previous years.
drupa DNA
Drupa dna’s special forum is an innovative technological engine for establishing contacts between industry newcomers, young talents, start-ups and established companies. dna offers a space for eye-level networking and provides insight into future technologies that give the industry trend-setting impulses. Key topics include: Additive Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, New Materials, Platform Economy, Predictive Maintenance, Printed Electronics, Remote Services, New Business Models und Process Design.
touchpoint packaging
touchpoint packaging (tpp) focuses on visionary packaging solutions and brings together brand owners, designers, material suppliers, print service providers and processors. The involvement of students and young talents such as Naba, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan) in partnership projects with exhibitors promises smart packaging solutions in the fields of folding cartons, labels, flexible packaging and corrugated cardboard. In addition, important issues related to central topics such as sustainability or E-Commerce will be discussed. Participating companies cover the entire spectrum of the process chain.
The European Brand and Packaging Design Association (epda), the leading European association of branding and packaging design agencies, is responsible for the special forum. The new content partner of the project is the German company MINTEL, an innovative consumer research company that guarantees insight into consumer trends and their impact on the industry. Tpp is also supported by the EHI Retail Institute Köln as a trade representative.
textile touchpoint
The textile industry opens up cross-cutting technologies for a number of industries – touchpoint textile brings these companies together, offers space for cross-industry cooperation, new projects and ideas for products and production. The German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research in Denkendorf (DITF) together with industry partners will implement a digital textile microfactory at the drupa trade fair, and thus a fully connected, integrated process chain from customer request to design to large-format digital textile printing. There are many interesting projects on the agenda, such as the efficient individualized production of sportswear and outerwear from sustainable materials in a continuous digital workflow or a creative competition for young designers. Touch textiles are supported by renowned partners such as Assyst, Brother, d.gen, University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen, Kurz, Luxion (KeyShot), Mey, Mitwill, Multiplot, Vaude and Zünd.
The ESMA association, as another partner of touchpoint textile, is responsible for the program of lectures. Speakers from research, development and industry will cover topics such as print and finishing technologies, workflows, market developments and sustainability. Emphasis will also be placed on trends and applications that open up new possibilities thanks to the interaction of digital printing and textile substrates.
sustainability touchpoint
Touchpoint sustainability is the place to learn more about the circular economy and sustainable print production. As a long-standing partner of drupa, the VDMA is responsible for this special show. Visitors can look forward to examples of best practice as well as innovative solutions on the subject of sustainability: How, for example, can the consumption of energy and resources in production processes be reduced with the help of optimized technologies? How can material and ink consumption be reduced to a minimum in the new low-limit areas? And how can finishing processes be implemented in an environmentally friendly way? The Sustainability Touchpoint offers a central platform and stage for cutting-edge know-how transfer on these and other issues.
The next drupa trade fair will be held from 28 May to 7 June 2024
